A Kids Review of a Cruise Vacation on the Carnival Fantasy

By Madison Barry
Age 12

Another ShipOuts reader comes through with a cruise vacation article contribution.  This time, it is from 12 year old Madison Barry, an aspiring dancer and artistic performer... and based on this article, perhaps a future travel editor?

Carnival Dream Lit up at Night

During mid winter break this year me and my family of 4 went on the fantasy cruise for carnival cruise line (look up at Carnival Fantasy to get a  better idea). This cruise vacation has activities for all age groups. Both of my parents are in there mid 30's.  For them they did things like gamble, relax, and more.

For the kids they had these clubs that were divided by age groups. The clubs were 2-11, 12-14, and 15-17. Me being 11, I was in the 2-11 year old club. Personally I have always been mature for my age and get along with people older than I am. However, I am not a big fan of hanging out with younger children. I was not allowed to be in the club with the older kids because they like to keep everyone with people in there own age groups, which I do completely understand.

If you were to have a family that has similar ages to mine, I would suggest going on this cruise with another family. Another solution would be to maybe go when your children are older or younger. Even though I didn't like to go to my club, I did have a lot of fun!

Going on a cruise (or any vacation for that matter), can bring a family together. These cruise vacations have a way of taking away stress about money, the economy, or any other personal problems you are struggling with. I personally feel this cruise vacation brought my family closer together. If I were to go on a cruise again I would bring a friend with me or go with another family with similar aged children. However this being my first cruise and first trip to the Bahamas, it was a wonderful experience that I will never forget!
